At the Berlin festival "48 Stunden Neukölln" one can only say: On to Neukölln and into the turmoil!
48 Stunden Neukölln has been presenting and promoting art since 1999 and has since functioned as a forum for all kinds of artistic projects on the Berlin art scene. The event has established itself as Berlin's largest independent art festival, and the artistic works it presents set effective impulses - far beyond Neukölln to the international context.
The projects focus on current social themes. It addresses all population groups - i.e. age, origin and social status play no role.
Within 48 hours, art is carried out beyond the boundaries of exhibits, galleries and museums and motivated to confront, communicate and connect people. The artistic positions are in the foreground, including the analysis of art itself, its conditions of production, procedures and social functions. This multi-faceted festival reflects the contemporary and political in art and invites critical questioning and discussion.
48 STUNDEN NEUKÖLLN is presented by the Kulturnetzwerk Neukölln e. V., financed by the district office of Neukölln.
